About My Fees
My fees reflect specialized training well beyond what licensure requires. I don't just practice EMDR and expressive arts therapy, I train and consult with other therapists both nationally and internationally. As an EMDRIA Approved Consultant™ and a Registered Sandtray Therapist, I bring a range of approaches to the work so it can fit you, rather than fitting you to a single method.
Why I Don't Accept Insurance
Tessera is a private-pay practice, and I don't accept or bill insurance. This is deliberate. It means your care is guided by what you need, not by what an insurance company authorizes, and your records stay between us to the fullest extent possible.
If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, you may still be reimbursed for a portion of each session.
How Payment Works
You pay the full session fee at the time of service. HSA and FSA cards are accepted.
If you have out-of-network benefits and want to pursue reimbursement, you have options. I'm glad to provide a traditional superbill for you to submit to your insurer yourself.
I also offer Thrizer, a payment platform built for out-of-network care, for anyone who wants it. Not taking insurance shouldn't mean you're left to figure out reimbursement alone. Thrizer can check your estimated benefits, show you an estimated session cost, and submit eligible claims for you after sessions are charged, so there are no superbills to track or insurance portals to navigate. Depending on your eligibility, it may also let you pay an estimated amount upfront rather than the full fee while your claim processes.
Check your estimated benefits and session cost: Thrizer
You are responsible for verifying your own out-of-network benefits and understanding your coverage. Thrizer's benefit check is a good place to start, but the details of your plan are between you and your insurer.
If you use Thrizer, the options are:
OON Pay. You pay the full session fee, Thrizer submits the eligible claim, and any reimbursement goes directly to you.
Thrizer Pay. If eligible, you pay an estimated upfront amount based on your benefits, and Thrizer advances the rest of the session fee while your claim processes.
Estimates are based on available benefit information. The final outcome is always determined by your insurance after claims are processed.
If your plan has an out-of-network deductible, your session payments may count toward it, and reimbursement typically begins once the deductible is met. If your plan has no out-of-network benefits, including Medical Assistance, sessions are self-pay. HSA and FSA funds can be used either way.
Intensives
Intensives are private-pay. Insurance plans generally don't reimburse multiple therapy sessions in a single day, so intensives sit outside the reimbursement process. We'll talk about that clearly before scheduling. HSA and FSA funds may still apply.
Good Faith Estimate
Under the No Surprises Act, all clients receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges.
What is your cancellation policy?
Life happens, and sometimes plans need to change. Because your appointment time is reserved specifically for you, sessions canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged the full session fee. Certain circumstances may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Full cancellation and rescheduling policies are outlined in the intake paperwork.
